We are a public Early College STEM school set to open in the Twin Cities in the fall of 2017.
We are currently seeking to partner with a higher education institution

OUR MISSION

It is our mission at Exploration High School to provide a rigorous, hands-on, and personalized Early College educational experience that will prepare students in middle school and high school with the skills and character needed to succeed in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) career. Our mission gives students opportunities to explore STEM fields while simultaneously working to earn both a 2-year Associate’s degree and a high school diploma.

OUR VISION

Our vision imagines a vibrant community of student explorers learning through creative design projects and personalized instruction, inspired to challenge themselves by passionate teachers acting as guides. By blending instruction through multiple sources, individualized skill building takes place, allowing students to learn exactly what they need at any given time. Skills are applied to creative projects that will center on highly demanded STEM content such as computer programming, engineering, data analysis, robotics, and applied science. We envision students dually enrolled during their junior and senior years with a partnering college, working simultaneously to earn a 2-year Associate’s degree or equivalent credit as well as a high school diploma. By inspiring students to learn in a more active and rigorous environment, they will develop the skills and character needed to succeed in a future science, technology, engineering, or mathematics career.

OUR PURPOSE

We are creating Exploration High School because we know the Early College model has great impact on student achievement. We see too many students, especially those with family backgrounds underrepresented in higher education, becoming disenfranchised with traditional schooling. We are opening an Early College school because it creates incentives for students to stay in school and reach their potential. We believe that a student guided by passionate teachers through interactive digital content and rigorous, meaningful projects spark inspiration to want to learn more. We believe a strong connection to a college community builds confidence and self-efficacy, which is why we are committed to providing students with the opportunity to earn a 2-year Associate’s degree or equivalent college credit while enrolled at our school. With a workforce demanding more technical, STEM focused skills, we believe our model will better prepare students to fill this need. We are seeking to open Exploration High School because we believe our results will have a major impact on the future of our students and the future of our community.
