Exploration Overview

What we are: A public Early College STEM school set to open in the Twin Cities in the fall of 2017. We are currently looking for a college to partner with to offer a transformative educational experience that has been successful in hundreds of school around the country.

Our mission: To provide a rigorous, hands-on, and personalized Early College educational experience that will prepare students in middle school and high school with the skills and character needed to succeed in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) career. Our mission gives students opportunities to explore STEM fields while simultaneously working to earn both a 2-year Associate’s degree and a high school diploma.

How we will be successful: We provide an active, relevant education that is unwilling to sacrifice neither rigor nor joyful learning. With the incentive to work towards earning an Associate's degree or two years of equivalent college credits, students will show grit to overcome any challenge.

Why Exploration? Because all kids deserve a rigorous and personalized school experience. By giving more students who have been underrepresented in higher education access to free college credits, greater educational equity can be achieved.

Thank you for your support!

At the end of April, we hosted an informational meeting with EDWorks, a national leader in opening successful early colleges. We had an excellent turnout including state senators, nonprofit leaders, education reformers, and community activists. Attendees learned of the amazing results of early colleges from around the country. A standout number was the national early college graduation of 93% with a student population where almost 50% of students are the first in their family to attend college and over 50% are in the lowest 20% family income level. We would like to thank all attendees, as well as everyone else who has expressed interest in bringing an early college to Minnesota.
